Faculty of International Tourism and Management and MGM jointly launch a Youth Development Program


Faculty of International Tourism and Management has established a partnership with MGM to implement educational programs, namely

“MGM-CityU Youth Development Education Series”, aiming to enhance students’ knowledge in the hotel industry and to cultivate

professionals for the hotel industry.  “MGM-CityU Youth Development Education Series” Program was scheduled to be held at MGM Cotai

from November 16th to 18th, 2020. Dr. Li Xi, Executive Associate Dean of FITM, Dr. Wang Xin, Bachelor Program Coordinator, and Ieong Yee

Man, Internship and International Exchange Coordinator, led the student visit and were warmly received by Mr. Francis Tan, Vice President of Learning & Talent Management of MGM and Mr. Benjamin Hong, Director.  Both parties conducted discussions on upcoming cooperation

projects including exchange program between executives and students, and internship programs.

 

Mr. Kelvin Lou, Learning & Talent Development Manager of MGM, explained the hotel development to the visiting teachers and students, and then led the students to inspect the hotel rooms, multi-function rooms, MGM Theater and other facilities, in addition, Mr. Lou shared the

experiences of daily operations in hotel Management, benefiting more than 250 students.

MGM Macau and MGM Cotai were opened in 2007 and 2018 respectively.  The two five-star hotels are equipped with rooms and suites of

different categories, restaurants and bars serving international cuisine, retail stores, meeting spaces and superior Spa facilities, also provide

diverse experiences such as art and entertainment.  Students participating in the “MGM-CityU Youth Development Education Series”can

gain an in-depth understanding of the hotel’s outstanding services and operation management.

FITM and MGM will maintain close cooperation, and will successively carry out cooperation projects such as dual teacher training, hotel

lectures, outdoor teaching and professional internships, and utilize their respective resource advantages to promote the development of

higher education of Tourism and cultivate the industry Elite.
