FITM Successfully Hosts Orientation for New Master's Degree Students in 2025/2026


On 10th September 2025, the Faculty of International Tourism and Management (FITM) successfully held an orientation for new master's

degree students for the 2025/2026 academic year. The event aimed to showcase the academic resources and atmosphere, helping new

students understand course requirements and the research areas of supervisors. It also provided valuable advice on study and life, enabling

students to clarify their learning plans and research directions, thus ensuring they are well-prepared for their upcoming postgraduate journey. The event was attended by Professor Li Xi, Executive Associate Dean, Associate Professor Esther Kou, Coordinator of the Master's Programme, and master students' supervisors, all there to welcome the new cohort of master's students.

Orientation

 

At the beginning of the event, to deepen new students' understanding of Macau's tourism and leisure industry, FITM invited Ms. Tina Wong,

Director of Responsible Gaming at MGM, as the keynote speaker. Drawing on her extensive experience, Ms. Wong analysed the significant

impact of the tourism and leisure sector, as well as responsible gaming, on Macau's sustainable development, providing new students with

an enlightening introduction to the industry that combined both theoretical and practical significance.

 

 

Speech by Ms. Tina Wong

 

Next, Professor Li Xi delivered the welcome speech. He encouraged new students to actively engage in academic exchanges and practical

projects, and to communicate openly with their tutors, thereby clarifying their personal academic and career goals. He expressed his hope

that students would continually challenge themselves in their future studies and strive for excellence.

Following this, Associate Professor Esther Kou IokTeng introduced the arrangements for the master's programme, including important

timelines and thesis writing requirements. She stated that FITM is continually optimizing its teaching resources, aiming to create a

collaborative and progressive learning environment for students. She encouraged everyone to actively pay attention to industry trends and

broaden their international perspective, thereby laying a solid foundation for their future career development.

 

 

Introduction of the Master's Programme by Associate Professor Kou

 

During the faculty introduction session, Prof. Peng Kanglin, Assoc. Prof. Jacey Choe, Dr. Duan Xialei, Dr. Hu Xingbao, Dr. Lin Bingna, Dr. Liu

Tingyao, Dr. Au Wai Ching, Dr. Xue Xunyue, Dr. Tang Xiangjie, Dr. Gao Mingjie, Dr. Guo Jianan, Dr. Huang Liyao, Dr. Li Jianwen, Dr. Lin Boyu,

Dr. Sun Wanting, Dr. Wang Danni, Dr. Guo Renyu, Dr. Chang Lu, Dr. Ye Huiyue, and Dr. Zhang Tao introduced their respective research fields

and advisory directions, encouraging new students to actively explore academic interests and engage in in-depth discussions with faculty

advisors.

This orientation effectively promoted interaction and understanding between faculty and students, laying a solid foundation for new students to integrate into the faculty. The event concluded in a warm and enthusiastic atmosphere. The new cohort of students, filled with aspirations
