The finals and awards ceremony of the“2025 Macau University Student Conference and Event Planning Competition,”organized by the
Youth Committee of the Macau Convention and Exhibition Association (MCEA), were successfully held recently at the Greenwich Meeting
Room, The Londoner Macao. Under the guidance of Assistant Professor Tammy Meng and industry experts, a team from the Faculty of
International Tourism and Management (FITM) at the City University of Macau—comprising Han Yifei, Ma Zixuan, and Ci Yi—stood out from
51 teams from Macau and Mainland China to win First Runner-up with their proposal, “2026 Global AI and Traditional Chinese Medicine
Integration Development Conference & Intelligent Diagnosis and Treatment Technology Summit.” Another FITM team—He Xuanqing, Zhou Shuang, and Zhu Renshule—won a Merit Award for their proposal, “<Her Travel, New Era>: International Women's Leisure Tourism
Economy Forum.”These recognitions highlight the teams' innovative capabilities and reaffirm City University of Macau students' strong
performance in MICE planning.
The award-winning proposal, “2026 Global AI and Traditional Chinese Medicine Integration Development Conference & Intelligent
Diagnosis and Treatment Technology Summit,” centers on the theme “AI-driven TCM innovation to build a deeply integrated industry–
academia–research ecosystem for health.” Aligned with the Healthy China 2030 strategy and the industrial development policies of Hengqin and Macao, it leverages optimized applications of AI-assisted tongue and pulse diagnosis, blockchain, and natural language processing. The
proposal adopts an innovative “One Event, Two Venues” model, linking venues in Macao and Hengqin to integrate international resources
and accelerate the modernization and internationalization of Traditional Chinese Medicine. The team will represent Macao at the AFECA 2025 Asian MICE Youth Challenge in Jakarta.
The competition aims to provide a platform for university students to showcase planning skills and innovative thinking, while injecting fresh
momentum into Macao's MICE industry. After the event, FITM Executive Associate Dean Professor Li Xi and Programme Director Associate
Professor Shen Huawen met with the students, highly praising their outstanding performance. They encouraged students to leverage local
advantages, broaden their international horizons, and face future challenges with greater determination. We look forward to the City
University of Macau team achieving further success on the international stage and contributing youthful energy and innovative drive to the
development of industries in Hengqin and Macao.
Acceptance remarks
Han Yifei, Faculty of International Tourism and Management
We hope our proposal can illuminate the wisdom of TCM and the human warmth of technology—bridging past and future, East and West,
and innovation and tradition. This honor owes much to the excellent platform built by the Macau Convention and Exhibition Association,
which enabled students to showcase their planning skills and access industry resources. Our sincere thanks also go to our instructors for their precise guidance from concept to execution, patiently clarifying challenges and answering our questions.
Ma Zixuan, Faculty of International Tourism and Management
Our proposal took over two months to develop from initial concept to final refinement. Throughout the process, our team maintained clear
roles and close collaboration—every discussion and every round of revisions bears witness to our collective effort. The most unforgettable
part was building everything from the ground up. We had no formal background in TCM or AI; we gathered the relevant knowledge by
reviewing literature and reports online. Details such as Hengqin–Macao clearance policies and equipment transport requirements were
clarified through research and by consulting experienced mentors. Being able to present this 'learn-as-we-build' outcome on stage and
receive recognition is especially meaningful—an authentic sense of applying what we learned.
Ci Yi, Faculty of International Tourism and Management
This award is an affirmation of our proposal. What moved us most during our research was realizing that AI is not a cold algorithm: it can help veteran TCM physicians 'see' pulse waveform nuances more precisely and 'interpret' tongue coatings more accurately, and it can
digitize millennia-old prescriptions to better meet modern needs. This value of 'technology empowering tradition' makes all our efforts worthwhile. We hope to stay in good form and achieve strong results in the upcoming competitions.
Zhu Renshule, Faculty of International Tourism and Management
Thank you to the organizers and judges for this recognition. Even as a Merit Award, it is truly encouraging. I'm grateful to Instructor Tammy
Meng, industry mentor Ms. Ally Loi, and my two teammates—your support motivates me. This journey taught me perseverance, growth, and earned opportunities and recognition that mean more to me than the award. I'll keep pushing for even better results ahead.
Zhou Shuang, Faculty of International Tourism and Management
This experience was more than a competition for me—it was a profound journey of growth. Beyond the honor itself, the training, inspiration,
and recognition from many sides are the most valuable gains. Going forward, I will stay passionate, remain grounded, and keep improving,
striving to achieve even better results in the future.
