FITM Students Win First Prize in National Finals of 15th National Red Tourism Creative Planning Competition

From October 18th to 22nd, the national finals of the 15th National Red Tourism Creative Planning Competition for University Students were

held in Wuxiang, Shanxi. The "Aomiao Hanyuan Team," jointly formed by FITM students Bai Jing and Yan Ruyu and Lai Wenrui from Central

China Normal University, under the supervision of Associate Professor Esther Kou Iok Teng, garnered the national first prize with outstanding

creative planning and brilliant on-site performance. This achievement showcases our students' solid professional competence and vibrant

youthful spirit.

This year's competition, under the theme "Forging Red Ideals, Writing a Creative Youth," attracted young students from across the country to gather in the old revolutionary base areas. They measured the strides of their youth across this red soil and championed the legacy of the red spirit through innovative thinking. Over the five-day final schedule, the participants engaged in a series of activities, including inspections of

red tourism sites, ideological and political education sessions, the formal competition, and final presentation performances, making it an

immensely rewarding experience.

This year marks the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World

Anti-Fascist War. The competition not only provided a platform for young students to showcase their talents and engage in academic

exchange but also served as a dynamic "mobile ideological lesson." The college calls upon all faculty and students to consciously become

inheritors of the revolutionary legacy and vivid narrators of the stories from the War of Resistance, drawing inspiration and strength from this history to channel their youthful energy toward the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.

Student Reflections:

It is an immense honour and excitement for us to have represented our university in this competition and ultimately won the national first

prize. This event was not merely a contest of professional skills but also a profound lesson in revolutionary heritage education. Every day in

Wuxiang, as we visited the Eighth Route Army Martyrs' Cemetery, the former site of the Lu Xun Academy of Arts, and the Taihang Memorial

Hall, we listened to the echoes of history and felt the power of the revolutionary spirit. We are grateful to the competition committee for

providing such a valuable platform, and to our advisor, Esther Kou Iok Teng, and our teammates for our collaborative efforts. This honour

belongs to everyone who supported us, and it inspires us to continue, in the prime of our youth, inheriting the revolutionary legacy, using

creativity to tell China's stories well, and contributing more youthful wisdom to the high-quality development of red tourism.

Yan Ruyu, Faculty of International Tourism and Management

In this Red Tourism competition, our project journeyed from the red stories of Macau to the battlefields of Shanxi. We designed ways to use

technological methods to breathe new life into historical exhibitions, tracing the revolutionary connections between the two regions through

the thread of time. During the event, we heard the story of the guardian of the Martyrs' Cemetery, learned about the resilience of women in

the War of Resistance, exemplified by Comrade Li Boqiong, and touched the Red Star Poplar tree planted by Commander-in-Chief Zhu De.

These experiences further ignited our sense of historical mission and our patriotic fervour as contemporary youth.

Lai Wenrui, Central China Normal University

I am deeply honoured to have participated in the finals of this competition. I extend my sincere thanks to our advisor for their meticulous

guidance and to my teammates for our excellent collaboration, which led to us winning first prize in the Red Tourism Route Design category.

This award is not only an affirmation of our work over the past few months but also a valuable opportunity to learn from and exchange ideas with teams from across the country. Participating in these finals has allowed me to more tangibly understand the necessity of applying a

people-centric view of history to my professional studies and to grasp more deeply the importance of humanities and social sciences in our

contemporary era.
