FITM Postgraduate Students Visit MGM— Exploring Cultural Exchange Through Art and Hospitality

To broaden students' international perspectives and deepen their understanding of the cultural and tourism industries, on November 10,

2025, Wendy Gao, Programme Coordinator of the Doctoral Programme, and Esther Kou Iok Teng, Coordinator of the Master's Programme,

led a group of postgraduate students from the Faculty of International Tourism and Management (FITM) to visit MGM Macau for an industry

learning tour.

In recent years, Macau has continued to strengthen its global standing in the hospitality industry. Since 2023, the city has been recognized for three consecutive years as the world’s top destination with the highest number of Forbes Travel Guide five-star hotels. The visit began with a special seminar hosted by MGM representatives, during which students learned about the company's development history and organizational structure. This session deepened their understanding of the business philosophy and management model of large-scale leisure enterprises in Macau.

During the tour, students also visited the Poly MGM Museum to explore the latest exhibition,“SILK ROADS BEYOND BORDERS.” The

exhibition highlights artistic treasures from civilizations along the ancient Silk Road across Eurasia, showcasing the enduring legacy of cultural exchange and artistic brilliance.

The visit provided students with a first-hand experience of hotel brand culture building and cross-sector cultural curation, further enhancing

their understanding of the current landscape of Macau's tourism and hospitality industries. It also offered valuable practical insights for

conducting local cultural tourism research. FITM has been dedicated to promoting collaboration between schools and enterprises, deepening the teaching and research of "Tourism + Culture". Through such initiatives, FITM aims to provide students with more experiential learning

opportunities and cultivate future professionals equipped with global perspectives and innovative capabilities in the field of cultural and

tourism management.
