FITM students visited CTM to gain a deeper understanding of the new developments in smart cities and human resource innovation


To enable students to gain a deeper insight into the latest progress of Macao's smart city construction and corporate management practices, on the afternoon of March 19, 2026, the adjunct lecturer Joanna Leung, led undergraduate students to visit the headquarters of CTM.

 

The visiting seminar was conducted by Ms. Annie Ao, Senior Manager of Corporate Communications Department of CTM, Mr. Jason Jiang,

General Manager of AI & Big Data Innovations of CTM and Ms. Fannie Lo, Senior Manager of Human Resources Department of CTM.

Ms. Fannie Lo first systematically introduced the eight core department structures of the company to the students, and then shared in depth

on the human resources strategy including employee distribution, diversified training system, competitive employee benefits and the

different recruitment processes.

After, Ms. Annie Ao, Senior Manager of Corporate Communications Department of CTM, vividly explained to the students the historical

evolution, development milestones and corporate culture of CTM. She focused on the leapfrog improvements of 5.5G technology in terms of speed, latency and connection density compared to the past, as well as its broad application prospects. She also comprehensively expounded on the company's blueprint and existing achievements in driving the deep integration of smart cities in areas such as government affairs,

transportation, tourism and people's livelihood, helping the students build a macroscopic understanding of the future of the industry.

Subsequently, Mr. Jason Jiang, General Manager of AI & Big Data Innovations of CTM, brought the audience to the forefront of technology. He deeply analyzed the core technical principles of artificial intelligence and big data, and particularly showcased the specific business

applications of these technologies in CTM, including the refined grid service management based on big data, the intelligent file analysis and management system for enhancing efficiency, the voice customer service and recognition model that better understands local dialects, and

the intelligent translation transparent screen applied in cross-language scenarios.

 

 

Mr. Jason Jiang, General Manager of the AI & Big Data Innovations, shared the company's big data technology and big data business with the students.

 

These innovative cases derived from real business scenarios enabled the students to experience the perspective of industry applications how digital technologies empower smart cities and commercial services. The on-site exchange atmosphere was very lively.

After the sharing session, the students moved to the Service Operations Center for an on-site visit. The center's director elaborated on the

daily operation mechanisms that ensure the stable operation of the entire Macau communication network, the emergency response plans for extreme weather, and the crucial role of Internet of Things (IoT) technology in the intelligent operation and maintenance of base stations. The students gained a firsthand understanding of the sophisticated system and the hard work of the behind-the-scenes team that keeps the

network running 24/7.

 

This experiential learning experience enabled students to have a better understanding of the technological industry, not only gaining insights into the cutting-edge applications and innovative directions of 5.5G, artificial intelligence, and big data, but also obtaining a more

comprehensive understanding of the industry from the perspectives of corporate structure and talent strategy. CTM continues to drive

technological innovation and cross-industry collaboration, striving to build a smarter Macau.

 

FITM of the City University of Macau will further strengthen the experiential learning model, allowing knowledge to transcend the boundaries of textbooks. At the same time, it will provide students with a platform to broaden their horizons, deepen exchanges with the industry, and

effectively enhance students' practical abilities and employment competitiveness.
