The delegation of FITM of City University of Macau visited HTI in Hong Kong and HTM of PolyU


A successful visiting to Hong Kong led by Dr. Gavin Chau, Executive Associate Dean of Faculty of International Tourism and Management (FITM) of City University of Macau on 12th December, with representatives Program Managers James Shen, Grace Chan, and the Head Officer of Domestic & International Affairs, Emico

Zhang.

 

In the morning, the delegation of FITM of CityU visited Hotel and Tourism Institute (HTI) in Hong Kong, which is a member of Vocational Training Council (VTC),

and warmly welcomed by the Programme Director (Operation and Development), Adrian Ort and Manager (International Development), Paolo Gorreri. The

delegation of FITM visited the training base of tourism service industry of HTI, such as Chinese Culinary Institute (CCI), International Culinary Institute (ICI) and The T Hotel. The delegation experienced the Centre of Excellence in providing world class competency-based training for hospitality industry and the language

laboratory in HTI. Dr. Gavin Chau, the Executive Associate Dean of FITM, wishes the two institutes can collaborate in the early future, including short-term training programs.

 

The delegation had a meeting with Dr. Hong Qin and the others from the School of Hotel and Tourism Management (HTM) of The Hong Kong Polytechnic

University in the afternoon. They discussed the Course Collaboration between the two parties. The delegation of FITM visited Hotel ICON, which is a teaching and research hotel that wholly owned by PolyU. The staff members of Hotel ICON are the students of HTM of PolyU. By giving the students exposure to all areas of the hotel, HTM aims to train them to be the future hospitality leaders. The decorations and designs of Hotel ICON were mostly created by the students as well.

Dr Chau highly admired the initiative spirit of PolyU and the practice abilities of HTM students. He hopes that the collaboration between FITM and HTM can be

strengthen in hospitality businesses and the tourism industry, so our students can learn from the models of excellence.
