A Delegation of Hertford College of the University of Oxford Visits City University of Macau


On 20 November 2019, Mr. Andrew Hemingway, Director of International Programmes at Hertford College, University of Oxford, visited City

University of Macau. Other members of the delegation included Ms. Candy Lan, founder of Royal Oxbridge Academy (Hong Kong), and

Programme Coordinator Mr. Ho Wing Sum The guests were first shown around the campus by Ms. Liona Ieong and Mr. Wesley Ho, members of the International Exchange and Internship Team, and then met with Mr. Kevin Hannam, Dean of the Faculty of International Tourism and

Management (FITM). 

 

 

After the meeting, the delegation had a discussion with Dr. Gavin Chau, FITM Executive Associate Dean, and Ms. Wang Xin, Bachelor

Programme Coordinator. The two sides expressed their hope to further deepen co-operation and optimise programmes, such as increasing

thematic programmes and continuing to adopt diversified teaching. They also discussed the possibility of credit transfer implementation.

 

 

Later, the delegation held a briefing in the Ho Yin Convention Centre on the 2020 short-term exchange programme at Hertford College,

where Dr. Gavin Chau and Ms. Candy Lan made welcome speeches. Dr. Chau stated that the University of Oxford is a world-class institution of higher education. It is a rare opportunity for students to study there, and they will definitely benefit a lot from such experience. Meanwhile, he encouraged students to connect to the outside world and experience foreign cultures, thus adding to their knowledge.

 

 

Then Mr. Andrew Hemingway gave a detailed and attractive introduction to Hertford College, including its profound historical background,

British-style buildings on campus resembling buildings in Harry Potter, quality learning and living environment, interesting programmes,

exchange among students from different parts of the world, and tourism in Oxford and peripheral cities. 

 

 

The students who participated in this exchange programme in August this year also attended the briefing to share their lives in Oxford,

learning process, and tours to scenic spots after class. During the event, there were also video presentation and Q&A sessions. The students

present enthusiastically responded and showed great interest in this exchange programme, looking forward to experiencing the local life in

person during this summer vacation.
