In order to provide students with a diverse teaching experience and facilitate their comprehension of the utilisation of technology and

innovation in the modern tourism industry, Senior Lecturer Ting Meng from the Faculty of International Tourism and Management(FITM)

led undergraduate students to the China Dragon Hotel Macau for an exhibition-style teaching activity on March 20–21, 2023, to give them a

chance to experience a variety of teaching methods and comprehend the application of technology and innovation in the modern tourism

industry.

Ms.Ting Meng  and the students visited the MICE and retail services training venue, which is now displaying the work of our 2019

international tourism and hotel management students who are working on new technical solutions to current tourism industry difficulties.

During the presentation, the teacher analyzed the exhibition case with the students by connecting classroom knowledge, using the venue's

physical exhibits, combining tourism problems encountered in daily life, and stimulating students' enthusiasm for active thinking through

cooperative group discussions.

The students who took part in this classroom experience reported that the learning method of "viewing ➕ group discussion" facilitated

deeper communication and interaction with teachers and classmates, which led to the collision of ideas and triggered more thinking.

Furthermore, the positive learning atmosphere also provided the students with a pleasant emotional experience in participating in the

learning activities。

Students worked in small groups to view the exhibition and discuss it enthusiastically.

The  China Dragon Hotel Macau  is situated in the middle of Macau's bustling downtown area, providing an ideal position. The training facility includes spaces for front office management and service, convention and retail services, catering and wine operation services, and more,

giving students hands-on experience in tourism and hotel management and service abilities. The FITM at City University of Macau will

continue to provide a diverse learning environment for students in the future, so that various innovative teaching modes and multi-directional exchanges between teachers and students can stimulate students' communication and innovative thinking skills, truly putting book contents

into practice!
