Ecotourism training and eco-tourism tour to Guangdong and Macao successfully held

In order to provide students with an in-depth understanding of ecotourism resources and the current development of tourism projects in

Macau and the Guangdong-Macao Deep Cooperation Region, the Faculty of International Tourism and Management(FITM) of the City

University of Macau invited Associate Professor Chengxuan Guo  from South China Normal University as an expert lecturer to participate in

this ecotourism training and outdoor ecotourism field trip to Guangdong and Macau. Professor Guo has long focused on environmental and

landscape processes and ecological responses, physical geography, and has extensive experience in outdoor expeditions in this field. After

completing the theoretical training seminar on ecotourism, Prof Guo led more than 50 students to the Hac-Sa-Long-Chau-Cape Coastal Trail

in Macau and the Zhuhai Hengqin-Mangzhou Wetland Park on 18 and 19 May.

Despite the hot weather on the field trip, teachers and students showed great enthusiasm. Professor Chengxuan Guo pointed out that

investigation and practice are the most basic requirements for learning ecological environment and geosciences, and hoped that this study

would help the students to understand Macao and the Guangdong-Macao Deep Cooperation Zone from the perspective of geography and

ecological environment.

Many students reported that the field trip was more participatory and experiential. The two-day study tour to Hac Sa Long Chau Coastal

Trail and Hengqin Mang Chau Wetland Park provided students with a better understanding of Macau's potential ecological tourism resources and the Guangdong-Macao Deep Cooperation Zone, as well as the planning and development of ecological tourism projects. The visit also

gave the students a better understanding of the prospect of diversified development of tourism industry in Macau. The FITM will strive to

create more field trips and learning opportunities in the future, so that students can gain in-depth knowledge  through experience.
