Interdisciplinary Workshop on Learning Tools and Tourism Data Analysis Successfully Held

On December 7, 2023, the "Workshop on Learning Tools and Tourism Data Analysis" organized by the Faculty of International Tourism and

Management (FITM) of City University of Macau (CityU) was successfully held at Jinlong Campus.

Dr. Chris Chu of the Faculty of Data Science was invited to share his views on the workshop, which aimed to help doctoral and master's degree students in tourism management understand how big data technology can facilitate tourism-related research and to understand the practical application of both traditional and innovative tourism data analysis methods in their research.

Master's and PhD students actively participated in the Interdisciplinary Workshop

Dr. Chu led the students to clarify the concept of data and shared how to collect effective data, which gave the participants a deep

understanding of the application of learning tools and data analysis in the tourism industry. In the course of the seminar, Dr. Chu

recommended some reading books and related materials in the field of data science and encouraged the students to further digest,

absorb, and understand the contents of this course after class.

Prof. Xi Li, executive associate dean of FITM, presented a Certificate of Appreciation to Dr. Chu

The success of this workshop provided an opportunity for teachers and students of FITM to understand and learn artificial intelligence (AI)

technology. Students stated that this workshop provided them with a deeper knowledge and understanding of the application of learning

tools in the tourism industry and also mastered the use of learning tools in tourism data analysis and prediction. The workshop broadened

the students' horizons and established the groundwork for them to use AI technologies in their future research and projects.
